Larry joined LIMRA in 2015 as corporate vice president. As Head of LIMRA’s International Research and Member Engagement, he is responsible for developing, expanding and executing the research agenda in all locations outside of North America.

Prior to joining LIMRA, Hartshorn was Executive Director at Aetna International, residing in Shanghai, where he was responsible for P&L results, operations, strategic planning, government relations and Greater China businesses. He has held additional officer positions in the US, Middle East and Africa for Aetna. Hartshorn also led various research grants for federal and state government entities in the US.

Hartshorn was educated at The Ohio State University, earning a Bachelor’s Diploma of Engineering and Master’s Diploma of Public Administration.

Neal Petersen

South African-born, Neal Petersen is a history-making, world-class adventurer, award-winning author of Journey of a Hope Merchant and the subject of a PBS documentary. Petersen has faced many challenges in life – poverty, discrimination during the harsh era of Apartheid in South Africa, a childhood disability and other insurmountable barriers – and he always responded by looking for opportunities and solutions to achieve his dream. Neal completed the 1998-99 “Around Alone” the most dangerous endurance sport known to man, a 27,000 mile yacht race, 9 months at sea – alone, via Cape Horn, and in the smallest yacht he designed and built himself.

Mark Carter

Manager of Business Innovation, IBM Global Insurance Industry

With 36 years of IBM experience, Mark has built a unique reputation for identifying insurance industry and market trends. As the current Manager of Business Innovation in IBM’s Global Insurance Industry, Mark works primarily with IBM’s insurance clients on their business strategy through innovation, radical cost reduction, Robotics Process Automation (RPA), InsurTech and business and IT maturity models. He is skilled in innovating and collaborating with C-Suite executives to help manage complex transformations, integrating line of business ecosystems and communities, and supporting high performance sales teams.
In his current role, Mark looks across geographies and the breadth of insurance clients in commercial and personal lines, re-insurance, life, and wealth management. Mark’s primary expertise focuses on cost reduction, InsureTech, and Globally Integrated Enterprise (GIE) in insurance where he explores organizational, operational, and cultural transformation. Mark advises insurers who are facing the challenges associated with making data driven decisions while helping them sustain profitable growth. He applies IBM’s vision of addressing domestic and global integration challenges while engaging with clients to create a culture of high performance and continual transformation. Mark inspires insurance executives who are leading the transformation by providing insight on the “art of the possible,” innovation, and growth. In 2017, Mark is leading the RPA and Cognitive Process Transformation enablement for insurance. In addition, Mark counsels the IBM global insurance leadership team with his expertise on key market trends. Additionally, Mark contributes to the quarterly insurance report for the SEC Security Analyst.

In late 2014, Mark was selected to commercialize an insurance asset from IBM Watson Labs in
Tokyo, Japan. The Insurance Process Analyzer (IPA) helps insurers achieve business agility by representing a process visually, highlighting bottlenecks, and identifying talent mismatches. As a result, most Japanese carriers have realized benefits up to 10x ROI. Commercialization includes a partnership with business analytics & strategy, cloud, social, cognitive technologies, and Global Business Consulting Services. Mark is an intrapreneur who is in the process of directly turning IPA idea into a profitable, finished product through assertive risk-taking and innovation.

Prior to his current role, Mark has held various roles in IBM’s Financial Services Sector Americas including: Emerging Business Opportunities – Financial Services Manager; Global Brand Manager for Financial Services; Manager of High Growth Innovation Initiatives; Manager of Business Resilience for Banking and Financial Markets; and Southwest United States NetGen City Manager (Internet Startups and Life Sciences). Additionally, Mark was the Chief Architect in building the Competitive and Emerging Line of Business for IBM.

Mark has Bachelor of Sciences degree in Marketing from San Diego State University. He received certification in competitive strategy and industry analysis at Harvard University, and completed executive programs at Boston University, Wharton Business School, and The Kellogg Graduate School of Management. While attending The Fletcher School of Emerging Business’ Executive Education program, Mark published, “Reflections Project.” Mark is a mentor to emerging professionals establishing career roadmaps in business and STEM.

Mark lives with his wife and daughter in Irvine, California. He enjoys playing golf, hiking, walking, and Stand Up Paddleboarding.

Mitch Ocampo


As CTO, Mitch is focused on product strategy and business development, working with staff and clients to realize the commercial vision of TAI in the marketplace. He is responsible for driving product innovation and ensuring the TAI platform continues to meet the changing needs of clients in the industry.

Mitch started his career in financial services, designing software for CCBN, a financial data company later acquired by Thomson Reuters. He served as Practice Lead US and Canada for EMC’s Global Services Division, where in 2005 he was first introduced to the reinsurance industry, tasked with developing a Bermuda-based underwriting platform. He later served as Partner and Managing Director for Kogent Corp, before joining msg global in 2011.
While at msg global solutions, Mitch served as Managing Director and Head of US Strategic Industries, serving also on the North American Board of Directors. He holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of New Hampshire, and a double Masters in International Business from Brown University and IE Business School.

Chris Murumets

Co-Founder & Co-CEO, LOGiQ3 Group

As CEO and Co-Founder of the LOGiQ3 group of companies Chris’ responsibility is to ensure; the growth of the overall group, synergies are leveraged where possible, and to look for future opportunities to continue expanding the scale and footprint of its operations.

A serial entrepreneur, Chris has been active in the insurance and reinsurance space for over 25 years. Prior to being one of the three founders of LOGiQ3 Chris spent many years in the industry with Crown Life and Sun Life across reinsurance operations, corporate actuarial, and asset/liability management.

Chris has also been active in a variety of industry related organizations. Over his tenure he has held the following positions; President of the LOMA Society of Toronto, Executive Director and Privacy Officer to CAILBA (Canadian Association of Independent Life Brokerage Agencies) and Vice President, Woodsworth College Alumni Association at the University of Toronto.

Additionally, Chris is a Past Chair and founding member of the Reinsurance Administration Professionals Association (RAPA), a worldwide committee made up of direct writers, reinsurers, and retrocessionaires.

Chris is also a member of the Board of Directors of the entities owned in partnership with msg Global; mL3 Global Life, and TAI Reinsurance System.

Ravi Rambarran

Ravi is the Chief Executive Officer of Sagicor International, the international division of Sagicor Financial Corporation. The division is responsible for the life insurance operations in the USA, the Lloyd’s legacy liabilities in the UK and the general insurance operations in the Caribbean.

Ravi is a director of Sagicor Costa Rica, Sagicor USA, Sagicor General and is a member of the group executive committee that runs Sagicor Financial Corporation. Ravi is a member of the Council of the Caribbean Actuarial Association, represents the Caribbean on the International Actuarial Association’s Insurance Committee, member of the Working Party of Accountants and Actuaries and is the Chairman of the Jamaican Chapter’s Public Sector Pension Reform Committee.

Ravi, a Trinidadian Open Mathematics Scholar, has a BSc Actuarial Science (First Class Honours) from The City University, London and a MSc Finance from the University of London and is a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries.

Ravi’s experience spans twenty six years in the insurance, pensions and asset management industries. Ravi’s experiences include rehabilitating distressed insurance companies, raising capital in the international capital markets and developing insurance business extra regionally. Ravi is a frequent speaker at regional conferences on insurance and pensions.

His previous positions include Consulting Actuary with HSBC and Aon Consulting in UK, Appointed Actuary of Sagicor Life Insurance Company Cayman and Global Life Bahamas, Chief Financial Officer and Chief Investment Officer of Sagicor Life Jamaica, Group Corporate Strategist for Sagicor Financial Corporation and part time lecturer at the Mona campus of University of West Indies.

She has served on the American Advertising Federation Omaha board and on the board of Insurance Advertising Compliance Association. She is a past president of the Mid-America Direct Marketing Association and currently adjunct professor of Marketing Strategy and MBA programs at Bellevue University.
