Over the years, the captive industry has generated significant employment—particularly in accounting—along with government revenue from licensing fees and in-country meetings.
In the past decade, however, the structure and operation of captives, especially in Barbados, have evolved. At the same captives, especially in Barbados, have evolved. At the same time, so-called “domestic” insurers have expanded their scope across the Caribbean and beyond.
This presentation will examine the gradual convergence of these two sectors—how they operate, are regulated and taxed, and the risks they are licensed to insure.
